Lego Technic Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear Achieves 69 MPH World Record

Lego Technic Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear Sets New Speed Record
A remarkable feat of engineering and construction has been achieved with the creation of a full-size, drivable Lego Technic replica of the Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear. This unique build successfully reached a speed of 69 mph at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in England, significantly surpassing the previous Lego Technic speed record.

Record-Breaking Performance
The previous speed record for a large-scale Lego Technic vehicle was held by a Lego McLaren P1, which achieved a top speed of 31 mph. The new Lego Sadair's Spear more than doubled this figure, demonstrating an extraordinary level of performance for a vehicle constructed entirely from Lego elements. Markus Lundh, Koenigsegg's official test driver, piloted the brick-built car in a reverse-course configuration during the record attempt.
An Ambitious Build
The creation of the full-size Lego Sadair's Spear was an immense undertaking. The car is constructed from an astonishing 327,906 Lego pieces and weighs approximately 3,968 pounds. The design and construction process spanned over 9,400 hours, incorporating numerous working mechanical elements. One of the standout features is the 'Ghost Mode,' which allows for the simultaneous operation of doors, hood, and mirrors at the touch of a button.
The Lego–Koenigsegg Partnership
This project is the latest collaboration between Lego and Koenigsegg, building on a shared passion for engineering. Christian von Koenigsegg, founder and CEO of Koenigsegg, highlighted the synergy between the two companies. The record-setting Lego Koenigsegg is slated for its public debut at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
New Lego Technic Set Launch
In conjunction with the full-size replica, Lego Technic is launching a new model set based on the Sadair's Spear. This set, part of the Ultimate Car Concept series, joins previous models inspired by Porsche, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Ferrari, and McLaren. The Lego Technic Sadair's Spear set comprises 4,104 pieces and measures 23.2 inches long, 5.9 inches tall, and 11.0 inches wide. It features intricate details such as a V8 engine, a functional 9-speed gearbox with paddle shifters, and the 'Ghost Mode' functionality, where lifting the rear hood triggers the opening of doors, folding of mirrors, and popping up of the front hood.
Availability
The Lego Technic Sadair's Spear set will be available to Lego Insiders members starting July 1, 2026. The general public can purchase the set from July 4, with a price of 449.99 euros (approximately 515 dollars). The real Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear is a limited-edition hypercar, with only 30 examples produced, boasting a 1,603-horsepower engine.
